Autobiographical Narrative
“It's what a man thinks of himself that really determines his fate.” - Ralph Waldo Emerson. My name is Christopher Magana and I was born in Visalia CA, 1998. I am the youngest in my family with only an older brother. I have lived in Lindsay CA my whole life. When I was younger I had never really thought about what I wanted to be when I grow up. Many of my friends wanted to be firefighters, policemen, doctors, etc. However I never really seen myself being any of those things. I grew up with the high technology age just starting to grow. My family had a single windows 2000 computer that had dial-up internet. As a child the things you could do was mind blowing, even though by today's standards, it is very basic.
I grew up seeing technology advance very rapidly around me. My uncle was the first to really show me what technology was capable of. He used to show me how people can write scripts to run different programs and games. As fascinated as I was, I was a bit too young to really comprehend any of it. Nevertheless, I wanted to see more of the many possibilities. As I grew older, I was given a laptop for my 13th birthday. I was overwhelmed by the massive upgrade from a big bulky dinosaur to a sleek & quick laptop. I quickly got used to the change and I was trying out many different things such as basic coding.
When I was starting my freshmen year I was happy to see there was many courses that teach you about the many things you can do with technology.I was mainly interested in computer repair. In my junior year I was finally able to take computer repair and I loved every minute of it. I was completing the lessons pretty quickly because of my prior knowledge of computers. During the 2nd semester of computer repair we had started our networking course. I had never seen networking, it was all foreign to me. It was very difficult at first then later on it just started to flow together easier. This year I am a senior and I am taking the 2nd year of Computer Repair that is called Computer Systems Repair. It it the advanced hands on version of computer repair where we go around the school learning hands on from the tech guys. I'm looking forward to future projects in this class such as troubleshooting & fixing broken computers on our own.
In October I will be taking my certification exam for computer repair so that I can get a PC Pro certification. I am really looking forward to starting a career in the technology field. I Hope to graduate from college with lots of new knowledge about computers. I feel very proud of what I have done and what I have learned so far. Hopefully in the future I will achieve my dream job of becoming a Computer Repair Technician.
